Welcome to Mrs. Byrne's 6th Grade ELA Class
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! My name is Florence Byrne and I will be your child’s ELA (English Language Arts) teacher. I have been part of our school community for 31 years. I have been a Middle School ELA teacher for 3 years. I am looking forward to another GREAT year of learning and exciting activities. Buckle up, the year may begin with a few bumps, but that’s what makes ELA come alive! What an unprecedented time for all of us, students, teachers, and parents. We will meet these challenges with strength. Remember it is not the easy times that builds are character, it is how we face the challenges in our lives. There will be many questions and together we will find answers. I often refer to the 6th grade as the kindergarteners of Middle School, and so it is our goal to increase their level of responsibility, confidence, accountability, and pride. These goals will not be different this year. I want to assure you that I have worked with my colleagues in the 6th grade and the ELA department and I have developed lessons and activities so your child, my student, will receive the best education in a safe environment!
Parent involvement is a huge factor in the success of your child. My belief is that we work together, your child will reach their full potential. My main form of communication this year will be through email for parents, I will also update the website with general information. I will post all information, assignments, and directions for students using Google Classroom. At anytime you have a question or concern involving your child’s education, please do not hesitate to reach out to me!! Thank you for entrusting your child to me to further his/her education and thank you in advance for your support!
